From the President...

Well, the first month of the year let us off pretty light. It was cold, but little snow. I hope everyone stayed warm and cozy in the shack and working some good winter DX. Those who braved the cold for the January meeting saw a great presentation and equipment demonstration by Bob Spratt N8TVU on D-STAR. It was very informative and I think everyone there received some good insight on the “new” mode of communications.

I want to challenge all club members to become more active in not only the club, but ham radio as a whole. We have seen, in the past couple years, an increase in new hams (as well as returning hams) joining our group and reaching out for assistance. Elmering has long been one of the staples in keeping ham radio strong and remains one of the best ways to make certain ham radio, as a hobby, continues to grow & flourish. I am challenging each one of us to reach out to help each other. I feel pretty assured in saying that, whatever your special interest is (HF, digital modes, ARDF, CW), there is someone else out there who would be interested in learning that skill. Make your interest known, offer to set up and/or host an interest group, and have some fun together. I guarantee there is a ham, either new or old, who is interested in the same things!

Monthly club meeting
