OH-KY-IN sponsors an operating event called Field Day. Field Day is during the 4th full weekend in June of every year. This is a nation wide event. For 2008, Field Day starts at 2:00 p.m. Saturday the 28th and goes through to 2:00 p.m. Sunday the 29th. Setup starts at 2:00 p.m. on Friday the 27th. Field Day was designed to test operators’ abilities to set up and operate portable stations under emergency conditions such as the loss of electricity. The event is a serious test of skill, and a contest for fun, too. During the weekend, the radio operators try to contact as many other Field Day stations as possible. More than 36,000 Amateur Radio operators across the country participated in last year’s event. During this outdoor emergency conditions activity we also have a pleasant picnic for members and their families. OH-KY-IN holds it's Field Day at Mitchell Memorial Forest near I-74 and Rt. 128. Keep scrolling down to see directions after the map. Come out and enjoy the food and the fun!
